Courage of Statues

from Devastation Demo by The Last Reign

/

about

In a later version of the myth of Medusa (by Ovid), she was once a beautiful maiden who was raped by Poseidon inside the temple of Athena. Enraged, Athena turned Medusa into a Gorgon with hideous serpents in place of her hair and a face so unsightly, it could turn onlookers to stone.

lyrics

Serpents fall into my gaze
My long lost innocence feels like a dream
I fell from grace and lost all my pride
Embodiment of misery, I am your demise

I will crush your free will
Destroy your spirit
I am the death of the gods
Abandon all hope
Look at this place
I'm the disgrace of the world

Take a look and tell me what you see, in the courage of statues
Shame on holy ground, Hades has forgotten me

Raped by the god of the sea
At what cost?
Life has shamed me!

Zeus betrayed
None forgiven

Look upon me, look into my eyes
Look upon me and you will turn to stone
